A League of Their Own: Celebrating Inclusion in Tampa

Our Journey Together

It is such an amazing journey for us. Creating this league for our adults ensures they don’t get left behind in bodies that do not match their minds. They age out of youth leagues, but their minds don’t.

The community has come together and really stepped up to help us fill this gap. Dennis Mueller, Jess and Stephenie Coonrod, and now Abraham Agosto are making things happen for Tampa. Their support has been invaluable.

The Growth of Our League

In 2021, the league started with just 14 players on 2 teams. It felt quaint and fun, like a school sleepover. The public saw this turnout and slowly decided they wanted to join the fun!

Now, as we enter our fifth year, we have the potential to grow to 10 teams this season! It is incredible to see how fast we are growing, and we are so thankful for everyone’s support.

Why Inclusion Matters

Inclusion is more than just a word; it’s a way of life. It’s about creating spaces where everyone feels valued and accepted. Our league provides a safe environment where adults can thrive.

These wonderful adults deserve to feel that their league is just as important, if not more so, than any other sports league. They need help staying active and fitting in. Sports can be a powerful tool for building confidence and community.

Please consider being a volunteer. Your time can make a significant difference in the lives of these adults. They will need support to stay active and engaged in a sport they may never have had the chance to play in the "Normie" world.
